A cow drinks clean water from a drinking trough that is free from dirt, deposits and biofilm. The water is clear and clean thanks to the use of MK:N water treatment. The MK:N HydroFit agent used ensures tasty, odorless, soft water that your animals enjoy drinking. The water treatment system can be used in all standard water pipes. Drinking water cleaning is less frequent and easier. Thanks to the water treatment, lime, iron and manganese dissolve and remain bioavailable. The MK:N HydroFit agent used reliably kills germs, fungi, spores and legionella and prevents the formation of biofilm.

Michael Keller GmbH was founded by Michael Keller in Kaiserslautern, Germany in 1993. Since the company was founded, Michael Keller has made it his mission to find and sell solutions for various challenges.
In 2008, during a conversation with a farmer, Michael Keller came across the challenge that was to determine the future purpose of the company: Farm animal hygiene.
The enormous problems with Dermatitis Digitalis in dairy farms, and the non-existent and then inefficient solutions, inspired Michael Keller to design and develop his own hoof washing and desinfection system. Michal Keller had a biocide (the predecessor of Hydrofit) in his portfolio that was very effective against Dermatitis Digitalis. At that time, there was no labor-efficient, economical and efficient solution as to how to apply the product to the hoof.
The patented devio Liesl K1 system was launched in 2009 and is still running successfully on some farms today. The automatic hoof washing and desinfection system has been marketed under our current company name MK:N since 2012.
Over the years, more and more hygiene solutions have been added, such as our self-developed udder care products Euterfit Spray and Foam, as well as waterpipe treatment for stables.
Development is ongoing and our systems are constantly being optimized under the motto “We want to deliver the best quality for animals and people”.

Our mission is to support farmers in sustainable, economical and ecological farming.

MK:N Liesl Premium
Hoof Washing and Desinfection System

for installation in all common milking robots

Liesel Premium hoof cleaning system in the milking robot

The MK:N Liesl Premium can be integrated fully automatically into the milking routine. First, the cow’s hoof is washed with water,  the dirt drips off for thirty seconds. After that, the hoof gets disinfected for one second with a MK:N Hydrofit solution. The parameters can be adjusted depending on the operation.

Depending on the milking robot, we recommend installing a spraying system from the back (can be used in every milking robot) and a system from the front.

Daily washing and disinfecting with MK:N Liesel Premium can prevent hoof diseases such as Dermatitis Digitalis and keep the germ pressure in the barn low.

The stainless steel spray system is designed for the needs of the cows. It is robust and long-lasting. The technology works fully automatically. The water technology is self-regulating, ensuring the required water pressure. The dosing technology ensures that the right amount of MK:N Hydrofit is reliably added.

Conclusion:

  • full integration into milking process
  • fully automatic, individually adjustable process
  • effective washing and gentle disinfection
  • low chemical consumption
  • low follow-up costs

MK:N Freya Eco
Hoof Washing and Desinfection System

for installation in all milking palours

A cow walks relaxed through an ECO hoof washing system from MK Nutztierhygiene. The KWA is an effective, economical and labor-saving prevention against Mortellaro, which can be optimally integrated into the milking routine.
MK:N Freya Eco hoof washing system during commissioning in the cowshed

Operation:
The MK:N Freya Eco can be integrated fully automatic into the milking routine. The system operates fully automatically during the entire milking time. The hooves are first gently washed with plenty of water and then precisely disinfected with MK:N Hydrofit solution. Daily washing and disinfecting with MK:N Freya Eco can prevent hoof diseases such as Dermatitis Digitalis and keep the germ pressure in the barn low.

Technology:
The cows walk through the machine on a non-slip grid. To work sustainably the washing-water is pumped around during the entire milking time and three liters are added per cow so that each cow has the same washing result. The entire body of the system is made of stainless steel. The technology is completely installed in the protected side wall. The control cabinet containing the electrics is also protected against submersion in water. The system is available with manual or automatic water change. Depending on the number of cows, the water is changed once per milking time and the system then rinses itself clean. When the canister with Hydrofit is empty, a red warning light comes on.
There are two variations of the system. The short version has a 200 cm washing area and a 100 cm disinfection area. The long version consists of a 200 cm washing area, 100 cm draining area and 150 cm disinfection area. Depending on the barn, operator routine and processes, we recommend the appropriate version of the system.

Concept:
The cows walk through the system before milking. First the hooves are washed, then the water drips off and the hooves are precisely disinfected. The cows then stand clean and dry in the milking parlor with freshly cleaned and disinfected hooves. This allows the disinfectant to take effect during milking.

Conclusion:

  • full automatic integration into the milking routine
  • full automatic operation during the entire milking time
  • effective washing
  • gentle, effective disinfection after washing
  • economical due to very low biocide consumption
  • labor efficient
  • efficient prevention of hoof diseases
